The Phoenix Park is the largest enclosed public park in any capital city in Europe, at more than 700 hectares in area. It was created as a royal deer-hunting park in the 1660s and only opened to the public in 1747. The park is now home to Dublin Zoo and Áras an Uachtaráin, home to the President of Ireland.
The Zoo itself is home to over 400 animals, from Lions and Zebras to Sea creatures and reptiles. They have a number of restaurants and Cafes on site throughout the Zoo.
Most of Dublin Zoo is accessible for wheelchair users and those with walking difficulties. You can rent a wheelchair from dublin Zoo for your visit but you will need to contact them directly to facilitate this.

Dublin Zoo is just a 35 minute drive from Shoreline Hotel and is a must for any family break in Dublin. You can also get to Dublin Zoo by public transport with a train to Connolly Station and a short bus or Luas journey to Heuston Station which is a 15 minute walk to the Zoo.
